I felt like we walked into the Bronx and it was this magic thing…
Lincoln Moses Enoch, who was about six years old, was in the kid herd. Across the street from the ambulance service was a park with swings. We’d just walk over, take the kids, and they could play for a little while.
Once a drunk guy was there. He was just slobbering around and all that kind of stuff. Before we knew it, Lincoln Moses was up there with him, just looking this man in the eyes and saying to him, “You’re a nice man.” The drunk straightened up — right there before our eyes. This little kid had done some magic. We walked up and moved Lincoln Moses away and put him on a swing. But we’d had a magic moment.
